1 ½ c sugar
12 T butter softened
3 eggs room temp
3 T vanilla bean paste
1 ¼ c flour
2 ½ t. baking powder
1 t. salt
1 ¼ c whole milk
1 c salted caramel sauce
2 sticks unsalted butter
4 c powdered sugar
2 T cream or milk
Preheat oven to 350. Spray 8 inch round pans with baker spray.
Cream together butter and sugar. Beat in eggs, one at a time then beat on high speed for 3 minutes. Add vanilla.
Combine flour, baking powder and salt. Add to butter mixture in batches, alternating with milk. Start and end with flour mixture. Do not overbeat.
Spread batter into rounds. Bake 30-40 minutes.
Cream butter until fluffy. add powdered sugar slowly and ⅓ c. caramel sauce. Add milk/cream if desired.
Poke bottom round with fork. Spread ⅓ c caramel sauce and top with frosting. Repeat for top layer.
