A normal Bates Fourth of July party required at least 4 batches as an appetizer. Brown 1 1/2 lb. ground beef (I like lean chili ground beef) and drain off the grease. In flat baking pan, spread evenly in layers: 32 ounce (2 small cans or 1 big one) Refried beans Browned meat 3 ounce can of Ortega diced green chilis (Other brands work, but get DICED) 16 ounces Salsa (Note pick the heat you want, this is all the heat) Cover with 1 Cup mixed Monterey Jack and Cheddar cheese. (More if desired) Bake at 300 for 25 minutes. Cover mix with: 2 Cups Guacamole dip (Calvado frozen) 2 Cups Sour Cream Decorate with small can of sliced black olives and chopped green onions. Serve with the heartiest tortilla chips you can find. -John F |
