Hot
Milk Sponge Cake |
Carol
who is an expert at desserts serves this often. It is wonderful.
2 large eggs
1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1⁄4 teaspoon salt
1⁄2 cup milk
butter
Measure 1⁄2 cup milk, add butter to bring up to 3⁄4
cup. Heat until scalded. (Steaming but not boiling)
Beat 2 eggs, add 1 cup sugar gradually, then add 1 cup flour combined
with teaspoon baking powder and 1⁄4 teaspoon salt.
Combine with milk and butter mixture. Batter will be thin.
Bake 375º for 25 minutes.
This is good served warm, with coffee ice cream and warm semi-sweet
chocolate sauce and whipped cream.
Chocolate sauce: melt good quality semi-sweet chocolate with a little
added water or cream then pour over the ice cream and cake.
